RECEIVING MORE
FROM GOD
Eph 3:20-21 ‘Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, (21) Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.’
As the year rounds up, many are giving up on the year 2019. The good news is God is not finished yet. He is not finished with 2019 and He is not finished with you yet.
God has the ability to do more than we can ask or even imagine. The Bible gives us a strong track record of what God can do in a man’s life, even when that man has given up.
God can pick up a beggar and turn him into a celebrity in one day as He did for the lame man healed at the Beautiful Gate. (Acts 3:1-10). God can turn a despised person into the pride of the family as He did for David in 1 Samuel 16. He can bring to remembrance those long forgotten, as He did for Hannah in 1 Samuel 1:19.
God can pick someone who is already doing well and make that person a ONE-OF A- KIND as He did for Solomon. (2 Chronicles 1:1-12).
God can make an awesome wonder out of a hopeless case as He did for Sarah who had no hope of having a child. (Gen 21:1-8)
There will still be a great feast in your house over that prayer request in Jesus’ name!
The big Question is what can I do to receive more from God in the closing days of this year and for the rest of my life? What must I do to keep entering the deeper treasures of the God who is more than able?
- Thank Him more for the things He has done already and He will do more
In Luke 17:12-19, one man who had been healed of leprosy among 10 others returned to thank God. In response, he alone received the added miracle of a wholesome testimony.
2. Praise Him more like David
In Psalm 34:1, David said ‘I will bless the Lord at all times.’
Psa. 67:3-7 tells us that when we all praise God, then the earth will yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us so much that all the ends of the earth shall fear him.
3. Serve Him more
Matt. 6:33 says seek ye first His kingdom and righteousness and all other things will be added to you!
In 2 Kings 4:8-17, the woman from Shunem city, kept serving God until Elisha, the man of God said, what does this woman need? How can we say thank you to this woman who has taken so much care of us?
No matter your expectation of God, never stop serving God, by serving your fellow man. Don’t quit serving God and in due season, He will reward you.
4. Draw closer to Him
James 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Come out of a life of sin and disobedience and begin to follow Jesus Christ!
Psalm 16:11 is clear: in the presence of God, there is fullness of joy!
5. Dwell in His presence
Learn to spend more quality time in God’s presence.
The more time you spend with God, the more you receive from Him
Psa. 92:13-14 says, ‘those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. (14) They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;’
6. Know Him more
Know the deeper things of God. Leave the shallow waters. Understand the principles of God. The action behind the scenes! Dan 11:32b says ‘but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.’
7. Thank Him more…..
Psa. 50:14-15 ‘Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: (15) And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.’
As we end the year, Give God thanks today for letting you see 11/12 months of the year!
Thank God for your liberty! That you have not been arrested without cause! Thank God for your health. Thank God today for the health of your loved ones. Thank God for your job and your business! Thank God for your eyes. That you can still see. Thank God for your ears. That you can still hear clearly. Thank Him for your nose, that you can still breathe.
Thank God that your hands can still move. That you can still feel through them! Thank God for your stomach that it can still hold food. Thank God that you can still use the restroom.
Thank God for your Church, that the worship is awesome, that the Word is a blessing and not a curse! Thank God for Nigeria that in spite of all, there is hope for us!
Give quality thanks to God today to show that you are grateful for the end of the year! That you realise what He has done for you!
Do you desire more from God? Draw closer to Him today. Turn your back on a life of disobedience to God and come and live your life under the direct blessing of Heaven. That is what Abraham did. And He keeps receiving from God even today, long after He died!
