Gen. 24:1 ‘And Abraham was old, and well stricken: and the Lord has blessed Abraham in all things.’

There are different kinds of Prosperity; Satanic, Human and Godly!

Satan once offered to prosper our Lord Jesus Christ in Mat. 4: 8-10. Thank God, Jesus did not accept Satan’s prosperity because Psalm 37:1-11 tells us that, those who prosper in an unrighteous manner will end badly. Jer 22: 13, Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour’s service without wages, and giveth him not for his work.’

Check around you, even in history and you will find, that those who steal to prosper or commit rituals to get wealth always end badly, and their end is always a disgrace. Men can also prosper you, but God warns against the dangers in trusting men in Jer. 17: 5-6.

Praise God the Lord however that there is such a thing as Godly prosperity! Jer. 17: 7-8 ‘Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. (8) For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf be green, and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

When God blesses, He makes rich and add no sorrow.

To whet our appetite for Godly prosperity, let us look at 2-3 fantastic qualities of the prosperity of God!

  1. Godly prosperity is total and complete

When God prospers, He prospers totally – in every area. Gen. 24:1, says God blessed Abraham in ALL things. I pray that God will bless you in all things in Jesus’ name. 3 John 2 tells us that God’s will is that we prosper, be in health even as our soul prospers. Spiritually, God prospered Abraham. James 2:23 says, he was called the Friend of God. In health, God prospered him. Gen 25:7-8 tells us that, ‘Abraham died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.’

Note that in everything God gave Abraham, He gave him in excess. In materials, God gave him more than enough. The one covenant son, Isaac was son worth more than 1000 sons. And God gave Abraham 175 years to live. When God prospers, He does it totally, comprehensively and abundantly.

I pray the Lord who prospered Abraham totally…. Will prosper you spiritually, materially, financially and in your body in Jesus’ name.

2. Godly prosperity is eternal

When God prospers, it lasts forever. It lasts even to your children’s children. Till today, Jews (Abraham’s direct descendants) remain amongst the richest people in every nation of the world. Wall Street, America’s financial HQ is largely controlled by Jewish wealth; Abraham’s seed. Long after Abraham died, God continued to prosper his son, Isaac, because of Abraham. Gen 26:1-5. When God prospers you, He extends it to your children after you.

God also prospered David so much that it extended it to his son, Solomon. In Kings 3:3-14, God extended His love for David to Solomon and blessed him in every possible way, beyond his wildest dreams. I pray that God will prosper you more than your greatest dreams in the mighty name of Jesus!

So, what do I do to activate this Godly prosperity that is complete, brings no sorrow and that lasts forever?

1. Stop living outside God’s will

God is love but He is a very fiercely jealous lover. Exo 20:5-6

He only began to prosper Abraham after the man left his idol-worshipping family and nation behind. Because only God’s prosperity is total, He must be convinced of your commitment to Him and to do His will. Until then, certain things will not prosper in your life. E.g. the presence of Lot in Abraham’s life was one of the causes of the delay in Isaac’s arrival. Also, when Abraham went astray and had a son, Ishmael outside wedlock, God held back His promise of Isaac for another 14 years.

If you want God to kickstart your total prosperity, I encourage you today to turn from any lifestyle that God’s word forbids.

The Prodigal son was meant to be very rich, but when he started living outside his father’s perfect will, his poverty started and he almost died eating pig food. His life only took a turn for the better when he repented and came back to his loving father. God loves you and wants to prosper you. All He wants you to do is turn from your ways that are outside His will.

Prov. 28:13, ‘He that covereth his sins shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy’. Once you stop living outside God’s will, the only thing left is to….

2. Do God’s will all the time and in all circumstances

God prospers people progressively. Abraham was not always prosperous. In Gen. 11:31, he lived communally with his father, brother, their wives etc. he was small enough to live with others.

Then in Gen. 12:1-3, God gave Abraham some tough instructions. By Gen.13: 2-6, God had blessed Abraham so much that he could not even dwell in the same land as Lot. He needed space. As you begin to do God’s will totally from now, one bank will not be able to contain your resources in Jesus’ name.

Then in Gen.17:1, God told Abraham, ‘walk before me and be blameless’. And I will show you that I am truly ‘the God who is more than enough’. I believe God is telling you today, start walking before God and be blameless and you will begin to enjoy the unlimited prosperity of heaven.

Decide today to know and follow God’s word, and He will bless you in all areas of your life in Jesus’ name! You can make that decision by praying as follows:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life to ask you to come in as my Saviour and Lord. Take control of my life. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal. Make me the kind of person you want to be.’
