1. Life is about making choices. How do we make the right choice as children of God at all times?
The first thing is to recognize that choices are not just choices. Choices are actually platforms or vehicles that take you to the future. Unless you understand choices are vehicles that take you to the future, you would think a choice is just a mere decision. The Bible talks about how a choice can lead to either life or death (Deut. 30:19). Having understood that background, I think the most important ingredient for making the right choices in life, is to be led by the One who knows the future and that is, by the Spirit of God.
2. How do we reflect good ambassadorial behavior everywhere we go?
The choices you make essentially tell us whose child you are. The Bible tells us for example, that he that sins is of the evil (1 John 3:8). A child of God cannot sin because the seed of God is in him (1 John 3:9). If you want to represent God as an ambassador wherever you go, you must ask yourself – ‘What would Jesus do?’ How would Jesus respond to this situation? It is one of the toughest questions to ask and respond to, but it is nonetheless a question you must answer, if you are going to represent Christ. The biggest question to ask is, what would Jesus Christ do in this situation? Whether it is in the way I dress, the way I talk or the places I go.
I read something somewhere which says, when you are watching a program on the television ask yourself – Would I like Jesus to watch what I am watching? Would I like Jesus to see me fighting? It is very interesting when you think of it like that, because it almost, therefore, tells us, that when we make choices that Jesus would not like to witness, we must then know that when we make the wrong choices; God is not with us. It is like having a friend who likes to fight and you don’t like to fight. Once he is involved in a fight, you would leave him. The way to be His ambassador is to ask what would I do differently if I realize that Jesus is watching me.
3. Life will always throw the good, bad and ugly. How best do you advice we handle every situation that comes our way?
This is such a profound question because too many people in their journey of life think that once it is good, it is from God and once it is bad, it is form the devil. For instance, if you want to marry a guy, once he is rich, fine, goes to church or says he is a Christian, you assume that it means he is God’s choice for you.
Firstly, if you want to really make the right choices, the Spirit of God must lead you. Secondly, whether it is good, bad or ugly that comes your way, if you are a child of God you must recognize and choose to trust God and believe that God, can bring beauty out of ashes and the fact that you have been served a curved ball in life, or in a situation does not mean that is the end of your life. It is such a great place to be in your life’s journey to know that all things work together for good for all those who love God and are called according to His purpose (Rom 8:28)
Look at the several examples in the Bible, when Daniel was taken as a prisoner, the Bible said he purposed in his heart that he wasn’t going to sin against God (Daniel 1:8). In other words, even as a prisoner, he was going to be an ambassador and because he made that choice, God turned the captivity to promotion! When you are served a curved ball, you feel cheated or insulted or life seems to be passing you by, choose to do what Jesus would do, and it will turn out for good. I have seen it happen in my life a million times.
I will end with a little interesting story. It is not a very pleasant story but it is the truth. I have learnt in life never to struggle for anything. I have learnt to let go and let God. One day, I was driving on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Western Nigeria, and some guy overtook and insulted me for driving slow, but I didn’t respond. Less than thirty minutes later, further down, I discovered he had run himself off the road. It is important to know that the fact that people have gone past you in life and you seem to be the least, it doesn’t mean that you are getting the short end of the stick; it just means that God has a better plan. You must always know that God loves you and can do ALL things.
