In Matthew 6:25-33, Jesus brought to our faces the importance of the Kingdom over every other pursuit in life. God made His throne in heaven, and then put a man on earth to rule over the earth on His behalf. The Bible says His throne is in heaven, and earth He has given to the children of men. (Psalm 115:16).

God designed us to rule and to lead in His Kingdom on earth. Sadly, according to Ecclesiastes 10:7, we see servants riding on horses while the true princes are trudging in life and having no impact. I pray that if you have lost your place in life and veered off God’s original design, you will be restored in the mighty name of Jesus.

You can be restored because God sent Jesus to restore mankind to our place in His Kingdom. In Revelations 1:6 and Revelation 5:10, the Bible tells us that Jesus has redeemed us to God by His blood making us kings and priests, and we shall reign on the earth.

What are the characteristics of this Kingdom Jesus spoke about?

  1. God’s Kingdom cuts across every sphere of life.

It starts with your very life.  The verse, ‘Seek ye first the Kingdom of God’ means seeks first the Kingdom of God in your life. It goes into your life as a single person, your marriage, family, finances, career, business, community and nation. Make sure the Kingdom of God is established in every area of your life.

God’s Kingdom extends far and wide. Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the Lord’s and its fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell in it.” God gave us His Son to make us kings and priests to lead affairs on this earth. He wants you to remember that you were born to lead and to reign. He said you will decree a thing and it will be established (Job 22:28). He said you are the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matthew 5:13-14). I pray that you will be used by God to enlarge His Kingdom in your sphere of influence in Jesus’ name.

  1. God’s Kingdom is abundant in resources.

When Jesus said do not worry about your basic needs, He was speaking from a place of unlimited supply. In Gen 17:1, God told Abraham “I am the God who is more than enough – Jehovah Elshaddai.” In Haggai 2:18, He said silver and gold are Mine. Psalms 145:16 says that God opens His hand and satisfies the desire of all living things.

What kind of a God can satisfy the desires of 7.7 billion people who inhabit the earth? This is a God who has no problem with supply, the same One asking to be a priority in your life. Do not mind people who despise conversations on abundance. We cannot enlarge God’s Kingdom if we live from hand to mouth. In Zechariah 1:17, God said my city through prosperity shall be spread abroad. If you are determined to be a channel of righteous wealth in God’s Kingdom, get ready for an overflow in abundance.

  1. God’s Kingdom is abundant in power.

Psalm 62:11 tells us emphatically that power belongs to God. Many people are not taking their place in God’s Kingdom because they are not sure that power belongs to God. This God is the Almighty because everything belongs to Him! If you ensure that the Kingdom of God is established in your life, family, career, and business, you will flow in unlimited power.

In this life, power is vested in responsibility. You don’t need power if you are not responsible for anything. Jesus Christ said in John 15:5, “Without me, you can do nothing” and Paul emphasized in Philippians 4:13, you can do all things when Christ is your strength. Power is central to life and if you want to operate in power you need to be in the Kingdom. A powerful person in the spiritual and physical realms can make life miserable for a wealthy, well-educated but powerless man.

I pray as you pursue and enlarge the Kingdom of God in your sphere of influence, God will fill you with great power in the name of Jesus.

When you combine a Kingdom that is all-pervasive, wealthy beyond measure and powerful beyond comparison, you see the reason why Jesus asked us to seek first the Kingdom.

How do I seek this Kingdom?

  1. Become a citizen of the Kingdom.

There are two primary kingdoms in this life; The Kingdom of God and other kingdoms. Jesus Christ said, “No man can serve two masters” (Matthew 6:24). Man has to make a choice and that is where the problem is. Many of us have never really made that choice. We need to come to a decision in life and say, “From now on I belong to Jesus. I do not belong to my nation, neither do I belong to my family.” Until you make that decision like Jesus Christ told Nicodemus, you cannot see the Kingdom of God (John 3:3).

There are privileges you only get as a citizen of a nation. One day, a woman came to Jesus and her daughter had serious oppression of the devil, but Jesus rich in mercy ignored her until she acknowledged Him as Lord and King.

If you’re a legitimate citizen of His Kingdom and you decide to live for Him against all odds, the King of Kings would pull all stops for your sake. He would turn things upside down to give you victory over everything. Decide today to be a true citizen of God’s Kingdom today!

  1. Begin to live every day to enlarge and enforce the Kingdom.

Once you are in Christ, you are a king and a priest. You have responsibilities. When you find yourself in the midst of people no matter how small the crowd, heaven has an expectation of you. There is power available to back up the expectation. The power is not dependent on your age, neither is it dependent on your title, neither on your marital status. The power is given to you to influence circumstances to conform to the dictates of the Kingdom that His will may be done on earth.

God’s measure of your loyalty to Him is fruitfulness or if you like, the profitability of your life to the Kingdom. Jesus emphasized the importance of this in John 15:16, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”

Make up your mind like Paul and Silas in Acts 16 to live the life of a bold witness, a life loud for Jesus, one of praise that attracts others to the Kingdom of God. Make up your mind to defend what is right and condemn what is wrong as David did to Goliath. Decide today, like Daniel, that the excellence of your work and life would reflect the character of God. Make up your mind, that from today, you will enlarge God’s Kingdom wherever you are! Then you will see the power and glory of God begin to attend to your way wherever you go in Jesus’ name!

Decide today to know and follow God’s word, and He will bless you in all areas of your life in Jesus’ name! You can make that decision by praying as follows:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life to ask you to come in as my Saviour and Lord. Take control of my life. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal. Make me the kind of person you want to be.’
